Yoomi Feeding System **REVIEW**

You may have noticed a new badge on a side bar... Yep that's right I am a Yoomi Mummy!

The lovely people at Yoomi sent us a 8oz feeding system to try out and we were really excited to be trying out this new system as Peanut, As mentioned before she is a bit of a diva and will only take her milk warm which can be a bit of a faff when out and about!
I thought I would share with you a little about Yoomi and the people behind it first.

All About Yoomi -

Yoomi is a unique bottle and warming system designed by Jim and Farah, A Mum and Dad whose experiences of bottle warming (stumbling around the kitchen in the early hours and begging waiters for hot water when out and about) inspired them to look for a better solution.
The combination of Farah's inspiration and Jim's engineering skills, together with expert advice and help from friends and family, has resulted in yoomi, the bottle that warms baby's feed in just 60 seconds

The Yoomi Concept -

The yoomi bottle contains a unique warmer that is activated by pressing the orange button. This triggers the internal solution to warm the unit in just 60 seconds.
The cold feed is gently warmed as it flows through the specially designed channels on the outside of the warmer. By the time the feed reaches the teat, it is at natural breast milk temperature (32-34 deg C).

To heat the milk you simply charge your warmer pod
and then place the warmer in the neck of the bottle, click the orange button through the soft neck/teat and it heats the milk within 60 seconds. When I first read about charging the warmer it sounded like a bit of a faff  but once I had actually worked it out it really wasnt and it saved a LOT of time.

Heres a video from the Yoomi website about charging your warmer...

Once we had for the hang of charging the warmer pod the Yoomi feeding system was really easy to use and saved a lot times and tears which were usually caused by peanut getting upset having to wait for a bottle to be warmed. Using the warmer pod saved all the time and worry of trying to warm the bottle in the microwave and wondering if its too hot or too cold as the Yoomi warmer pod heats the milk to the correct temperature every time.

The Yoomi warmer also saves the hassle when you are about an about and need to warm a bottle and have to go on the hunt for warm water or wait for someone to bring it to you. Now you can simply warm the bottle in 60 seconds wherever you are!

Heres another short clip from the Yoomi website about warming your babies feed using the Yoomi bottle -

Overall I would definitely suggest trying out these bottles if like me you have a baby who only likes to drink their milk warm. It took all the hassle, fuss and guess work over getting your babies milk to the correct temperature. They also come in 2 sizes 5oz or 8oz bottles so size to suit everyones needs. I would say if you intend on using these on a day out you may need to purchase more than 1 warmer pod to last.

Have you tried Yoomi before?

Shampooheads **REVIEW**

Like most boys his age James has reached that stage where he wants to do things by himself. Especially since finishing nursery and starting school he wants to be more independent and that includes bath time!

James has quite sensitive skin so we have stuck to certain products for his skin but he always wants to try the "child based" bath products from the supermarket, You know the ones in the funky shaped bottles or with funky pictures on.

So when the lovely people at Shampooheads offered us some of their hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested products for James to try we new he would love them.

Shampooheads was created by the Bell family and has 3 product ranges each being based on each 1 of their 3 children - Awesome Annie, Busy Bob and Raging Rosie. They are now joined by Dr Miriam Stoppard who is working with the family as their resident childcare expert. On Sunday 16th September 2012, Shampooheads appeared on BBC’s Dragons Den. Since then the company has gone from strength to strength even expanding our product ranges to include Bubble Baths for each of the 3 characters.

Busy Bob Bubble Bath

* Hypoallergenic
* Dermatologically tested
* Tear free formulation
* Blueberry scent

James loved the bright colour of the bottle and couldn't wait to use this in his bath. The scent was amazing and as promised there were no tears even after using the vast amount of bubbles created from the product to create a beard lol. His skin was lovely and soft afterwards and he had no flare ups of his eczema!

Busy Bob Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash.

* Tear free creamy formulation
* Dermatologically tested
* Hypoallergenic and Paraben free
* PH Balanced
* Child friendly pump for independence
* Measured amount – no spillage
* Blueberry scent

I love the fact this product in everything in one! It means no messing around with a separate shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Again the scent of this was so fresh it really did smell lovely. I really liked the fact the pump action bottle had a child friendly pump which was easy for James to use by himself, Also when pushed it delivered a measured amount so there was no over using the product and he could simply use 1 pump for his hair and 1 for his body again giving him the independence he really wants.

Busy Bob Crazy Hair Gel

* Wet look gel
* Strong hold
* Easy to wash out
* Dermatologically tested
* Hypoallergenic
* Paraben free

* Blueberry scent

James has recently started getting his hair cut with daddy at the barbers (I used to cut it at home previously but hes apparently to "grown up" for that now lol!). Despite that we have never really tried putting gel in his hair but when we explained to him what this was he was excited to try it out. He loved "spiking" up his hair and as promised it really held all day even whilst running around the park, Then was easy to comb and rinse out at the end of the day. I would definitely suggest trying this out if your little ones are wanting to try something funky with their hair without causing any damage as a first hair gel.

Shampooheads aim is to make children aware of personal hygiene through child friendly products and it certainly seems to have worked in our house with James really looking forward to using his "own" products each morning.

Natures Purest **REVIEW**

If you have a baby or are looking for a gift for someone who has had a baby then you really should check out Natures Purest!
Their products are made from 100% organic cotton and all in super cute designs!

Natures Purest products come packaged in a beautiful Natures purest gift box and tied with ribbon and a gift tag so you can simple add your name and the recipients name if it is intended as a gift.

Sleepy Safari Sleeping Bag

"Made from super soft cream jersey this sleeping bag has press studs at the shoulders and a zip that runs down one side and along the bottom of the bag making it easily accessible. It is decorated with the Sleepy Safari giraffe and has a 3D sun attached. The bag is lined with striped jersey and is padded for comfort and warmth."

The sleeping bag is unbelievable soft! I love the fact it has extra poppers on the arms so these can be tightened for smaller babies so they cant slip their arms in and out. The design is really cute and as it is unisex would be a perfect gift for an expectant mum. I have to admit I was a little jealous at how snugly Peanut looked it in.
The sleeping bag is priced at £32 which I think is a fair price for such a high quality item and aged at 0-6 months will have plenty of wear especially through the winter months, Especially if your baby is anything like mine and kicks the blankets off then cries because their cold lol!

Sleepy Safari Elephant Sleepsuit.

"Made from soft cream jersey with embroidered elephant motif. Press stud fastening."

The sleepsuit is available in 2 sizes 0-3 months (up to 14lbs) and 3-6 months (up to 18lbs) and they are very generous in size. As well as the elephant they have other animals including a Lion, Giraffe and sheep in the same design. I love the unisex design and the material feels such a high quality. Peanut has worn this several times and it has been through the wash a few times and come out looking as good as new! No signs of bobbling or wear anywhere!

These are just 2 examples of the beautiful items available at Natures Purest, They have so many cute items in a wide range of designs everything from teddies and comforters, bedding, clothing, bibs and more! So you are sure to find something you love!

What makes these products so special and so soft you ask well Natures Purest products are all made from 100% naturally coloured cotton and adding nothing is what makes the cotton so special! No dyes. No bleach. No chemical pesticides. No heavy metals. No formaldehyde. No chlorinated phenols. No chloro-organic carriers. No biologically active finishes. Just 100% Natural and Pure.

Chewy Chocolate M&M and Marshmallow Cookies Recipe.

We have been having a chilled out Sunday today and have been doing some baking.

Today we made Chewy Chocolate M&M and marshmallow cookies and I thought I would share some pictures and the recipe for you all to try. They are really simple to make and a big hit in our house, Although they are very sweet!

Ingredients -

250g Plain flour
170g Unsalted butter (melted)
220g Brown sugar
100g Caster Sugar
1 whole egg
1 egg yolk
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp Vanilla extract.
+ Your choice of filling we chose Chocolate M&Ms and marshmallows but you could choose anything you like!

Method -

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F or 165 degrees C. Grease or line a baking tray with grease-proof paper
  • In a bowl sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl, Then add the salt and set aside.
  • In another bowl mix together the melted butter, brown sugar and caster sugar thoroughly. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy (we used an electric whisk for this)
  •  Now mix in the reserved sifted ingredients gradually until mixed together. Now Stir in your choice of filling this is where we added our m&ms and marshmallows (stir these in by hand using a large wooden spoon or spatula).
  • Now evenly divide the mixture into balls (this mix should make around 15 cookies) and these squash the cookie dough balls slightly so they make a thick disc shape on the tray.
  • Bake the cookies for around 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly browned. Allow to cool on baking trays before transferring to a wire rack to completely cool as these will still be quite soft when they first come out of the oven.

and Enjoy!!

You will be left with these crispy on the edges soft and slightly chewy in the centre cookies.

What do you like to put in your cookies?

Do let us know if you have a go at the recipe and let us know what you decide to put in yours! You can even share a picture of your cookies on our facebook page (I would love to see them!) -

Aquabeads **REVIEW**

James loves anything arty, crafty or messy so when the Aquabeads jewel starter kit turned up new it would be a bit hit with James.

Aquabead kits consist of small beads, a layout tray, several templates to follow and a water spray bottle. The idea is simple, easy to do and very effective. You simply use the small beads (there is a pen provided to help pick up and place the beads accurately on the layout tray with the template underneith) to create a shape, picture or design of your choice. Once you have finished with your design you simply spray the design with water and leave to dry. The design then peels away from the template and you then spray the back and you have your completed item!

The Aquabeads Jewel starter set contains around 800 jewel shaped translucent, sparkly beads and also comes with a portioned out tray so each colour of bead has its only little section. As well as the flat picture type designs you can make with the kit, You can also made 3D type items such as a pen holder or photo frame and the kit comes with templates that you can easily follow to make these items!

As I thought James loved this kit! I was a little disappointed that the kit seemed to be aimed at just girls with the box appearing very girly, pink and only featuring pictures of girls which initially put James off. After explaining to him it was for boys and girls and showing him what to do he loved it!

I thought he may find the tiny beads a little fiddly to place but with the help of the pen he managed it with ease and loved following the templates to create designs and then seeing them taken off once dry.
The kit kept him busy for hours!!

The Aquabead jewel starter set is for children aimed 4+ and is worth every penny of its £10.99 price tag as it provides hours of entertainment and would make a great Christmas gift!

You can find more template designs to download and use for free on the Aquabeads website HERE.

You can find out more from Aquabeads including other kits available and design inspiration from one of their pages here -

Have you ever tried Aquabeads before? If you have what have your children made with their kits?

Peanut is 3 months!!

Today as well as James starting school Peanut turned 3 month old!!

Im seriously struggling to work out where the time has gone! Its like I blinked and missed it all and its only when I look at pictures of when she was born I realise how much she has actually grown!

She is such a cheeky little girl always full of smiles and giggles and she is a complete mummy's girl!

She now weighs around 13lb and is starting to fit in some of her 3-6 month clothing!!
She loves being sat up looking around and hates being led down (well unless shes led under a mirror as she likes to look in the mirror and smile at herself lol). She has got in to a bad habit of clawing at her own face leaving scratches all over her poor little face and I've tried mittens, socks and baby grows with built in mittens but this baby Houdini can get out of them all!

James is still totally in love with her and never leaves her alone, Hes been so helpful wiping her mouth when shes been a little sick, putting back on her socks when she kicks them off and grabbing the nappies and wipes just to name a few things. Im so proud of the big brother he has become and some days I dont know what I would do without him helping me keep Peanut entertained (he can make her smile at the drop of a hat which melts my heart!)

Here are some pictures of my cheeky girl today at 3 months old...

and here she is with her big brother on his first day of school!

So proud of both my amazing babies my heart is just bursting with love and pride!!

Funky Giraffe Bibs **REVIEW**

Peanut is a dribbler! We have tried several types of bibs but all have either been too big for her little neck or the dribble has soaked straight through the material and got her clothes wet anyway.
So when we were invited to try out a selection of bibs from Funky Giraffe we were hoping these would solve our problem.

We were not disappointed!!

I chose a selection of bibs from the Funky Giraffe website. There is so much variety on the website including 100% cotton bandana bibs, 100% cotton square bibs (for more coverage) or even bamboo bibs!

When we received the bibs I straight away noticed the vibrant colours and cute quirky designs on the bibs. I also noticed that all except the bamboo bib has poppers to fasten then (big thumbs up as these are less easy for baby to pull off)! The bibs have 2 popper fastening settings which solved our problem straight away of the bibs being to big! It meant they were tight enough around her to catch any milky dribble before it ran onto her clothes!

Here are some pictures of peanut in her bibs...

Blue funky chicks bandana bib.

White summer strawberry bandana bib.

Pink plain bamboo bib.

Purple and white stars bandana bib.

White ladybirds and flowers bandana bib.

The bibs are 100% cotton on the front and feels soft to the touch, The fleece backing keeps dribble from soaking through and really does work! Despite lots of milky dribble her clothes remained dry all day.

(The fleecy backing ensures baby stays dry!)

I have washed these several times and the design and colour hasn't faded at all and they still feel just as soft as they were new!

These bibs start as prices around £4 per bib but the more you buy the cheaper they are! You can get 5 for £11.25 or 10 for £20!! Making them just £2 per bib if you purchase 10 which is a great price for something that looks stylish, really works and will last ages as the 2 popper fastenings mean they will fit your babies as they grow!

They now also offered personalised bibs so you can add your own text to the bib! Perhaps a name or date or birth which would make a lovely gift for a new baby.
